Since Sept. 11, 2001, Sikhs living in the United States have experienced discrimination and harassment. Recently the local Sikh community purchased time on a billboard on Interstate 78 to let more people know who they are.
Unfortunately, with spray paint, that billboard was severely vandalized with very ugly messages.
An affront like this on a minority within our area is not only an affront upon the Sikh community. On a basic level it is an attack upon the whole idea of a multicultural society. [Link]
