Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair visited a Sikh Gurdwara in east London on July 15, 2005. "The Metropolitan Police expressed their concerns regarding the Sikh community being venerable to hate crimes in the aftermath of the London bombings due to their unique appearance. "
"Sir Ian Blair earlier urged Muslims to 'seize the moment' of the terror attacks on London to engage actively in counter-terrorism when he earlier visited a mosque in east London. "
A local Sikh said, "We do not doubt the commitment of the officers we met today to the safety of all inhabitants of London, but we still feel that the people who attacked the Gurudwara woke up the police to the fact that there are these people called Sikhs who are more vulnerable."
